First team secure midweek win!

Retainers beat Easton Cowboys Reserves 3-1 having trailed 1-0 at half time in the midweek game. Coach Tom writes:

'First half, we invited pressure on and sadly conceded due to giving them a lot of space to create the goal. To his credit Shaun had a great game in goal and made some fantastic saves to keep us in the game.

Second half we asked for more fire and passion and changed it to 4-4-2, bringing on Hew and Jamie. AJ moved to the left, leaving Johnny G and Vach in the middle. We started to press more and gave their defence a much tougher test.

First goal came from a Hew throw in long into the box. Their goalkeeper flapped over it and AJ popped it in to equalise.

Second came from their goal kick. Johnny G header, Hew latched onto it and lobbed the keeper for a quite tasty second!

The winner was from another long throw from Hew which found the head of Johnny G for the third goal. Helmi came on second half towards the end and helped to add some pace and fire.

Overall, the second half was a a major improvement and the team showed more desire. A good return to winning ways! Proud of them all.'

May the Brian be with you

The one and only Brian May, one of the originals and the ultimate G&W warrior sends a pre-season message to the class of 2015

'Dear Lads.  I trust you have all enjoyed a good summer. Now the hard graft begins. Lets all pull together to re-establish ourselves as a leading respected Downs League Club and make promotion back to the first division a must. Hard work, belief in your own ability and encouraging each other on and off the field will make such a difference to achieving that aim. May I wish both teams and the managers every success for the new season.  Good luck on Saturday. Regards, Brian.'
